Founded in 2015 by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross, the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE) is a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations. Through partnerships and programs, we inspire leaders in sports to create positive change on matters of race and equality.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

As a key team member of the RISE communications team, the Manager of Events and Marketing will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the RISE communications, events and marketing teams to lead daily executional, logistical and strategic event support
  • Supporting the Director of Digital Media with the creation and posting of content across RISE’s social media platforms and website
  • Maintaining a cross-organizational digital content calendar which helps align the organization around key initiatives
  • Providing onsite event management and support
  • Enhancing and expanding RISE’s presence across all media platforms

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist the Senior Director and Director of Events with planning for RISE events and lead onsite logistics
  • Work closely with the Director of Communications and Director of Digital Media to provide strategic and executional support for online efforts
  • Track, communicate and celebrate RISE and partner events and activities to ensure we are a timely and meaningful part of important industry conversations
  • Capture content and share stories from our events which speak to the importance and power of our programs in real time
  • Remain current on industry trends to help provide strategic direction for digital growth
  • Research and identify innovative ways for RISE to deliver content to new and existing audiences

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 2-3 years of event management experience
  • Ability to lead logistical preparation and onsite event execution
  • Experience developing and executing on social media strategies that support major organizational changes
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud; Google Analytics; Mailchimp; Microsoft Suite; WordPress
  • Ability to travel
  • Understanding of relevant audiences and the ability to think like a customer, intuitively understanding audience interests and content consumption behaviors
  • Passion for advancing racial equity and social justice

 

Desired:

  • BA/BS degree
  • Experience managing event execution elements such as shipping, storage, set-up and strike
  • 1-2 years managing the social media presence of a major nonprofit, sports, government or media entity
  • Photography and video production experience
  • Experience managing multiple and simultaneous projects
  • Self-starter and ability to work well within diverse groups, be a team player, possess analytical and “client service” skills and critical thinking

 

Compensation:

  • We offer a competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position that reports to the Senior Director of Brand Experience and Marketing.
