Building Bridges Through Basketball
RISE teamed up with the Jr. NBA to develop Building Bridges Through Basketball programs, as part of the NBA Voices initiative.
The 10-week leadership program aims to build stronger communities, using basketball to break barriers. It engages youth and coaches from local community organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs and Police Athletic League, and members of local law enforcement in weekly 2.5-hour sessions featuring a combination of on-court basketball programming and hands-on learning developed by RISE focused on leadership, conflict resolution, identity and diversity.
Charlotte – RISE, the NBA and Under Armour launched the 10-week program in Charlotte during NBA All-Star Weekend 2019. Partners include the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation. The weekly sessions will run from March through May 2019.
